Who we are

The Scituate Sustainability Committee (SSC) is a group of local volunteers appointed by the Scituate Town Council. Our goal is to guide Scituate toward a more sustainable future by promoting environmental responsibility, innovative solutions, and smart financial practices. We believe that by working together, we can make our town a model for environmental stewardship.

Our mission in action

To advance our mission, the SSC focuses on:

  • Make recommendations to the Scituate Town Council on public policy relative to sustainability and how these efforts can save the town money

  • Collaborate with public schools in creating sound educational initiatives and sustainability practices that cultivate environmental stewardship

  • Work cooperatively with other public and independent agencies to advance our mission

  • Inform Scituate residents about sustainability issues that affect them
